You...Now Two

Mr. Finley,
As I type, you are outside in the front yard with your Dada.  He's teaching you how to play baseball with a plastic bat, tee, and ball.  Y'all are using a Japanese Maple for first base, the lid to a plastic toy container for second, and the turtle Frisbee your Cousin Tot gave you for your birthday.  The grass is green and your field is shaded.  Your only opponent and ball-snatcher is Charley.  I could sit here and listen to you laugh as you run bases with your Dada all day.
At age two, he's your hero.  For this reality, I am extremely thankful.  You can be on the highest high when you play with him, yet, you relax in his arms and quickly give in to sleep.  Along with everyone else, I have to say you seem to be growing to look like his 'mini-me' (with deep brown eyes and curly hair from your Momma)...but mostly, you are the spitting image of your Dada.  I can't wait to see the relationship grow between you and your Dada.
Lately, you've updated the Mr. Finley Dance, to the two-year-old version.  This includes either dancing on Dada's feet or going solo to the beat of the Avett Brothers, Mumford, or the Lumineers.  You constantly want to be outside, at the park, or going to the Greenway to visit the bridges.  Action is your forte.  You are not one to offer hugs, but when you do they are the running across the room flinging yourself into our arms squeezing hard kind.  You adore trucks, trains, and planes.  If it moves, it works for you...from your won mower to your Yitening and Mater cars to Thomas to wingin at the park.  Your doctor gave me your two year stats in the following way "75% height, 50% weight, and if there was a communication percentile, he would be 99th for boys". You love Tuesdays with your Poppa and calling your Yaya on the phone and visits to Nana and Roho's house to play.  Another favorite person?  Your cousin Millyay.  Currently, you are going to be a 'ire 'ighter when you grow up.  You are already talking about growing up.  By the way, this is NOT allowed, this premature talking of growing up...
There were so many firsts in the second year of your life, I lost count.  From first steps to plane rides to talking in sentences to puke bug to sliding down the BIG slide to sleeping in your big boy bed to 'running' your first 10k with Auntie Yiz to growing out of babyhood and basically amazing us daily with your new skills.  It was a whirlwind year.
As your momma, I love you.  The past you, the you now, and the you future.  Your curls, which appear often in the heat of summer, make me kiss your head as often as I can.  We can't bring ourselves to cut your hair just yet.  But, when we do, I have a feeling your hair on your head will still be covered with kisses.  In contrast to your norm of nonstop action is your love of being read to and this makes your momma's heart happy.  Dotor 'Euss is a definite fave.  Thank you for making my heart fall in love with having a little boy to call my son.
Most of all, little man, we want you to know the sweetness of the Savior.  Our prayer is for your heart to be captured by His grace.  Funny thing, this being your parents.  Your presence has grown us and made us realize so much about ourselves.  You are our teacher...for that we are grateful.  We pray you would learn from us and that as we all grow, we would all learn more about how to better look like Jesus.
Happy two years, 'inley Stott Tanode!  We love you more!
Momma and Dada
