H-O-K-I-E-S

Officially, in our house, tonight is the first game of the college football season. But, let me give some background. This is Dad's birthday weekend. Last night, Scott got a box at the Red Sox game for Ev. It was a birthday gift and special family time, all at once. To add to the surprise, Lizard and Jensen came in from Charleston, SC! As a result of the baseball game, plans were to have Dad's birthday dinner tonight. In addition, the day has been busy for the girls with a bridal shower, then Dad's birthday dinner, while the boys spent the day supporting sports events. First, they went to see Shawnie Howell play a softball game. The rest of the day? At our house, watching football. I am not going to try to name the games they viewed. And while taking breaks from watching, they were throwing the football in the backyard. All in all, a wonderfully invigorating day for the men of the house! And now, the evening's activities continue...HOKIE football vs. the crimson tide of Alabama. It's the second quarter. Our hopes are for a Hokie victory! Charley has already 'died' three times tonite because he would rather be a dead dog than a Bama fan. He is the light of his daddy's eye.
Having Liz here is the highlight of my weekend. It's been a long needed visit. There are times when six hours seems like much more. So these visits, though short, are incredibly sweet. They will leave tomorrow after church to trek to Richmond to visit with the Kiers (aka Rhett, Sarah, and Cate). I wish they could stay longer; however, sharing her with Rhett, Sarah, and Cate, who can complain? :)
I love this weekend: celebrating the gift of an amazing, loving Daddy, having a visit from my sister and brother-in-law, watching the beginning of college football, and looking forward to a Monday with no school. Did you hear the sigh from where you are?
