Hilton Head (take 2)

Vacation continues:
Sunday we attended Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton. It was a good worshipping experience. The pastor preached on Matthew 1, i.e. Christ's genealogy, and prefaced his sermon with the following comment "I am willing to bet that none of you have heard a Christmas sermon, much less a sermon based on this passage of scripture." Whoops. We have. In fact, Ev preached on the same passage a few Christmases ago! The message was different but scripture based. Basically, his thoughts were--check out Christ's family tree and as you do, you begin to realize that God has a love for sinners. If you thought your family was dysfunctional, try your Saviour's family! After church, we made a visit to the Outlets! :) Then, we made our way back to the resort taking the long way so Scott could show me Sea Pines and Harbourtown. The houses were magnificent! The hanging moss made the drive fuzzy and green. We returned to our place to spend the evening in watching movies.
Tuesday morning we took a walk on the beach, played ping-pong, went to a brewery tasting, and ate dinner at Carrabba's (thanks to our friends, the Hodgsons)! On the way there, we passed my favorite Christmas decos on the island--bushes cut to look like lifesize reindeer! They have brown antlers and lights all over them. I have exclaimed everytime we drive by them. This time, Scott quickly pulled to the left lane, hung a U-turn, and promptly turned in at the entrance where the reindeer stand. Then, he pulled to the side of the road, put on the flashers, and yelled at me to "get out of the car, we're taking a picture!" Granted this doesn't seem that much of a deal, however, these reindeer are at the entrance to a gated community and at the edge of a MAJOR intersection. We did it, though. Scott almost stood in the street to take my pic with the reindeer and then he jumped up on the second level so I could take his pic. I laughed until my stomach hurt as we jumped into the car and sped away. It was an unforgettable moment!
Today, Scott is golfing and I am lounging in the room. Currently, I am watching the Dan Patrick Show, catching up on blogging, drinking coffee, and reading. Or, I might walk to the dining room table and start working on the 2,000 piece puzzle that my husband picked up from the activity room for us to work. 2,000 pieces. Holy cow! Finally, bike riding has been moved to all day tomorrow, the warmest day in the forecast being our main reason.
The 5 hour bike ride was a blast, although my derriere is a bit upset with me! We took lots of pics, took our time shopping in quaint Harbourtown, and ate seafood beside the water. This has been a wonderful respite after a long, seemingly arduous autumn. Now, as we head for home, instead of the usual 'end of vacation sadness', we see the joy of Christmas with the whole family (I can't contain my excitement!) and a white Christmas forecast! Hilton Head, we will return...someday!
